Crazy 8's Game Rules

Crazy 8's Game Rules

🎴 Setup

  • Choose a dealer. The dealer shuffles the deck, deals five cards to each player, and places the rest of the cards face-down in the center.
  • The dealer turns up the top card and places it in a separate pile, as the "discard pile". If an eight is turned, it is placed back in the middle of the pile and the next card is flipped.

🎮 Gameplay

  • The game starts with the player to the left of the dealer and continues clockwise. On your turn, you can either match the top card of the discard pile by number or suit (Square, Diamond, etc.).
  • All 8's are "Crazy", playable as any number or suit. The player who plays the crazy "8" can choose a suit that the next player must match. For instance, playing the "8 of Squares" and declaring "Stars" requires the next player to play a star.
  • If you can't play any card on your turn, draw one card from the face-down deck until you can play.

🏆 Winning

  • In a single round, the first player to discard all their cards wins. Or the player with the fewest points wins if all cards are drawn.
  • If you play multi-rounds, you can calculate the points of the remaining cards at each round. Cards are counted at face value except for 8's, which count as 20. The game can end on a pre-arranged points total (e.g., 100) and the player with fewest points wins.
