Aaron Trotter
A Portland artist turning the character of real places into tangible, accessible art.
After drawing hundreds of Portland landmarks, Aaron chose playing cards as a way to hold an entire collection in one hand. He sketches each place on site, then returns to the studio to embellish and crosshatch the details using his great-aunt Ethel’s 1910 ink pen. A hand-drawn suit-and-number border keeps the images connected to the game, making every deck both playable and a compact portrait of somewhere worth remembering.
